Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will join University of Indianapolis officials Thursday to dedicate a $25 million student housing development. The four-story Greyhound Village will house nearly 500 students.

The complex is located at the first leg of the city’s planned Red Line rapid transit bus route that will take IndyGo passengers to and from Broad Ripple. UIndy says the combination is expected to attract commercial development to area.

Work began in May 2015. It features nearly 200 one-to-four-bedroom units, replacing a 60 year-old complex on the property.The university says a goal of the complex is to help bridge the university and the University Heights neighborhood with other nearby parts of town such as Garfield Park and Fountain Square. It will help boost UIndy’s housing capacity by one-third.

A ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m.
