Starting in the fall of 2025, students at USI will have direct-entry into a few select graduate level programs at UE as long as they maintain a certain GPA.
UE is opening its master’s in athletic training and doctorate of physical therapy programs to USI undergraduates. Southern Indiana students enrolled in exercise science, biology or pre-med programs who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher by the end of their sophomore years will be eligible to apply, the schools said in a press release.
The students have to receive a degree from USI while maintaining their 3.5 GPAs. The University of Evansville said the school will accept a “limited number” of USI students each year based on their academic performance and recommendations from USI faculty.
“We are thrilled to partner with USI to cultivate a strong pipeline of future health professionals,” said Jeff Tilly, UE’s chair of athletic training in a written statement. “This agreement not only strengthens the educational options for students in the Evansville community but also addresses the growing need for highly qualified professionals in the health sciences.”
In the release, both universities say they will work together to monitor the quality of the programs.
The move by the University of Evansville comes after the school expanded its guaranteed admission agreement with Vincennes University. In September, the schools announced Vincennes students enrolled in most programs can transfer to UE to get their bachelor’s degrees.
