The University of Evansville has named Mary Kessler dean of education and health sciences. She has been with the school since 1991, including serving 17 years as chair of the Department of Physical Therapy.
She will begin in the new role March 1.
Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Michael Cullen says "Mary is dedicated to the mission of graduating young men and women who will lead informed, ethical, and productive lives. She is role model for students and faculty."
Kessler helped develop UE’s AceCARE pro bono physical therapy clinic and is faculty advisor and a volunteer with the organization. "I am honored to be able to serve the University in this capacity and to continue to work with the dedicated faculty and students in our College and the University community," Kessler said. "I am looking forward to continuing to advance the mission of our college and prepare our students to become competent and caring service-oriented professionals."
She takes on the role at a key moment in the region. Kessler is on the Community Advisory Council for the Indiana University School of Medicine – Evansville Campus and will be instrumental in shaping the downtown, multi-institutional facility that is slated to open in time for the 2017-2018 academic year.
