Uber Arrives to Evansville

As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowA popular ridesharing program is expanding to its eighth Indiana city. Uber is launching in Evansville Wednesday by giving a ride to Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, who will be known as "Rider Zero."
Winnecke will join Vanderburgh County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave and representatives from Uber and the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville at Wednesday morning’s event. In addition to providing people with another transportation option, the city says Uber will give residents earning opportunities.
Evansville joins Indiana communities including Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Bloomington, West Lafayette and northwest Indiana to offer the ridesharing service.
The launch event is set for 9:30am EST (8:30am Central) in Evansville.
