Two Companies Plan Seymour Expansions

Subscribe NowThe Seymour City Council has approved tax incentives for two companies looking to expand in the Jackson County city. The Seymour Tribune reports Alterra Holdings, which is headquartered in Seymour, and Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) are planning investments totaling more than $15 million.
Alterra plans to invest more than $12 million to expand its facility at the Eastside Industrial Park. The company, which manufactures plastic compounds, says it plans to begin installing new equipment in April. The investment is expected to create 10 additional jobs.
Cummins is planning to make nearly $925,000 in improvements to its industrial center in Seymour and add $2.25 million in new manufacturing equipment, according to the publication. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year and Jim Plump, executive director of the Jackson County Industrial Development Corp., says the expansion could lead to additional hiring in the future.
