Karen Laine and daughter Mina Starsiak, known as “Two Chicks and a Hammer,” have been selected to star in a ten-episode reality series on HGTV. During a recent interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, the women described their discovery on social media. The two were featured as a pilot on the cable network this month and that led to the deal for a series.
“We are kind of nervous and very excited,” said Karen Elaine in a statement to Inside INdiana Business. She says promotion for the series is beginning to take shape as Elaine and Starsiak have been invited to home shows in Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Cleveland and Evansville. Pre-production is slated to begin in late June.
One thing that is still unknown is what the series will be called. Elaine says she was informed by HGTV it will not be “Two Chicks and a Hammer.”
The mother-daughter team has rehabbed more than 20 homes, mostly in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis. They were discovered “on accident” by a talent scout and that led to the HGTV opportunity.
