Maryland-based Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., which owns WSBT 22, has acquired the Fox network affiliation rights from Quincy Media Inc., the Illinois parent company of FOX28 WSJV in Mishawaka. WSBT officials say news operations of the two stations will be combined, and "some staff" positions from FOX28 will be hired on by Sinclair.
In a frequently asked questions posting on the WSBT website, the state said "WSBT 22 is excited to be able to offer viewers in Michiana two outstanding networks as well as First, Fast and Accurate news and weather from our award-winning team on both WSBT and FOX Michiana." The notice concluded by addressing what will happen to FOX employees from WSJV:
While WSBT does not comment on personnel matters, we can say that some staff from FOX28/WSJV-TV were retained for positions at WSBT 22 and FOX Michiana.
Beginning Monday, FOX programming will be carried on WSBT’s digital 22.2 channel and be known as FOX Michiana.
