Centreville, Mich. — Trine University is teaming with Glen Oaks Community College to offer adult learners a new path to earning a bachelor or master degree from Trine. A press conference is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, in the entryway of Glen Oaks campus. In case of inclement weather the press conference will take place in the Glen Oaks concourse.
Glen Oaks and Trine University's partnership creates a pathway from an associate degree to a bachelor or master degree. Glen Oaks, in Centreville, Mich., and Trine, in Angola, Ind., have also agreed to jointly develop programs to be offered on the Glen Oaks campus.
The 2+2 Pathway allows students to take their first two years at Glen Oaks and their second two years at Trine.
The route students take to a bachelor's degree from Trine, known for its rigorous academics and hands-on learning, would depend largely on the academic program in which they are interested. Trine grants bachelor and master degrees in more than 35 areas of study.
“Trine University is pleased to partner with Glen Oaks to offer a new way for students to earn a valuable Trine degree,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. “It’s exciting to know a new group of students can experience Trine’s reputation for producing work-ready graduates and the region can benefit from such an arrangement.”
Ninety-seven percent (63 percent is the national average) of Trine’s 2013 graduates were employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Trine is nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report as being one of the best colleges in the Midwest for students graduating with the least amount of debt. Also, Trine is ranked among Regional Colleges in U.S News and World Report’s 2013 edition of Best Colleges.
Trine University is reducing its tuition from $370 per credit hour to $270 for Glen Oaks graduates maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average.
“Our new partnership with Trine offers students new pathways to achieve their goals,” said David Devier, Ph.D., Glen Oaks president. “Students will have greater access to classes toward their bachelor degrees with the convenience of academic program offerings right here on our campus. It is our desire to continue to serve the students with new opportunities such as this.”
Glen Oaks Community College is a quality provider of education programs serving the needs of residents and businesses of St. Joseph County and beyond. The College, established in 1965, sits on 300 acres of land in rural Centreville, Mich. GOCC offers 18 associate degree programs and 19 certificate programs. The student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1 affords students personal attention and provides opportunities to accomplish their goals and grow and succeed in a supportive, ethical and academic environment.
