MUNCIE, Ind. – Randall Howard, vice president for business affairs and treasurer, announced today that he has accepted the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Howard will assume his new duties Sept. 2.
“This was a difficult decision for me,” Howard said. “Ball State is a very special university, and I am appreciative for the opportunities I have had to contribute to its success. At the same time I am looking forward to new challenges and opportunities at Embry-Riddle, a very distinctive and innovative university in its own right.”
Located in in Daytona Beach, Fla., Embry-Riddle is the world's oldest and largest university specializing in aviation and aerospace.
Chair of Ball State's Board of Trustees Rick Hall expressed his appreciation for Howard's service to Ball State. “I'm sorry to see Randy move on. Ball State continues to set the standard for administrative efficiency, which is a critical factor in keeping our tuition low. Randy has greatly contributed to this success not only through his disciplined approach to spending, but also his implementation of innovative ideas such as the geothermal project to keep down administrative and operating costs,” said Hall. “I know he is excited about this new opportunity, which builds on his background in the Air Force as well as his accomplishments here. I want to thank him for his service and wish him the best in his new endeavor.”
Howard came to Ball State in 2006 as associate vice president for business affairs. He was named vice president for business affairs in July of 2009. Interim President Terry King said that the search for Howard's successor will begin immediately.
