Transport Van Company Plans to Expand in Elkhart County

The Elkhart Truth reports before ARBOC Specialty Vehicles LLC committed to the expansion, it needed help connecting with municipal infrastructure.
The Elkhart County Redevelopment Commission voted Thursday to reimburse the company 55% for a nearly $340,000 project to connect to Middlebury’s sewer system. The publication says the money will come from a tax increment finance district fund.
ARBOC Specialty Vehicle produces makes low-floor, wheelchair-accessible transit vehicles.
Plans call for a 40,000-square-foot addition, which will include office space, an employee breakroom, and extra manufacturing space.
Arboc, which started in 2008, currently employs 141 people. The publication says the company intends to add staff after the expansion is complete
The company manufactures vehicles that run on diesel, compressed natural gas and electricity. ARBOC says it will be focusing more attention on its new electric models.
