Tracy Chen is television producer of Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick. She began her career at Grow INdiana Media Ventures in 2008 as a writer and reporter for our daily INside Edge e-Newsletters. Tracy also oversees our daily perspectives articles.

She joined Inside INdiana Business following three years as a news producer at WISH-TV in Indianapolis. There she handled all facets of producing the station’s daily live morning show. Prior to that, Tracy worked for three years at one of the country’s great and oldest television news operations, KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, where she handled a variety of news writing and producing responsibilities. Tracy has also worked as a freelance producer for CBS’ The Early Show.

She is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, where she majored in broadcast journalism with a second concentration in Spanish. Tracy and her husband live in Indianapolis.

5 Questions For Tracy:

1. Where can we find you when you’re not working?

Somewhere along I-65! I’m from Chicago, so I go back at least once a month (sometimes more) to visit friends and family. I also love trying new restaurants with my husband, cooking, shopping, traveling and spoiling our Boxer.

2. If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?

Working in a bakery or flower shop. I love to bake, decorate and organize. I think either industry would be a creative outlet for me. Come to think of it… a flower shop would be a safer bet, because if I worked in a bakery I would eat everything in sight!

3. Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car? Why?

Drive a car. I, unfortunately, rely on driving for everything. If Indy could get mass transit up and running, I would embrace it!

4. What would you do if you won the lottery?

I would travel, travel and travel some more. I want to see the world. I would share the wealth with my friends and family. I would definitely give to the unfortunate. I’m not sure if I would create my own foundation or give to another (maybe both!).

5. What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?

A boat, a bed and my wedding album.
