Toys R Us plans to close more than 180 stores, including two Babies R Us locations in Indiana, as part of its bankruptcy reorganization efforts. In a letter posted on its website, the company says clearance sales will likely begin next month, with most locations closing in mid-April.
The Indiana Babies R Us locations set for closure are:
Indianapolis: 3928 E 82nd Street
Greenwood: 8800 US 31 South
Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy in September. The list of 182 store closings represents about one-fifth of its roster of U.S. stores.
In the letter from Chief Executive Officer Dave Brandon, he says the decision to close the stores "give us the best chance to emerge from our bankruptcy proceedings as a more viable and competitive company."
