Toyota Production Increases in Princeton

(NYSE: TM) says production at its Princeton plant topped 412,000 in 2017, slightly up from the previous year. In September, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc. marked its five millionth vehicle produced.
TMMI manufactures Toyota’s Highlander, Sequoia and Sienna models. The Highlander and Highlander hybrid both saw production increases. The plant produced 412,438 vehicles in 2017, compared to 401,859 in 2016.
In January, Toyota announced it would invest $600 million into the Princeton plant and add 400 employees by 2019. At the time, the automaker said the expansion would help meet growing demand for the mid-size Highlander SUV. The announcement marked one of the largest private-sector expansions in state history.
In all, Toyota produced nearly 2 million vehicles at its North American plants in 2017, down slightly from the previous year’s total. The automaker has 14 manufacturing plants, with the 15th coming in 2021 in Huntsville, Alabama.
