Toyota Announces Columbus Expansion

Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing in Columbus has announced a $16 million expansion and building renovation at its forklift manufacturing plant. TIEM says the new building and renovation will provide space for new manufacturing technology development and new product development. It will also serve as headquarters for Toyota Material Handling North America, the North American division of Toyota Material Handling Group. The company says the expansion includes a two story office building, a new cafeteria, a storm shelter, locker room and expansion space for the company’s on-site medical center.
"To achieve our long-term vision and goals, we are investing in our people, and our manufacturing and support space. This expansion represents Toyota’s commitment to its Associates, customers, and the Columbus, Indiana, community," TIEM Senior Vice President Tony Miller said.
Toyota will hold a ground-breaking ceremony next month. Construction is expected to be finished next year.
