Tire Importer Selects Anderson Plant

A Texas-based importer of Chinese tires is planning to locate to a former General Motors facility in Anderson. RESOURCE Commercial Real Estate, which handled the property’s sale, says Sutong China Tire Resources Inc. could create up to 40 jobs in the Madison County city.

The full scope of employment totals and investment have not yet been finalized. The new location will serve the recreational vehicle trailer industry, retailers and wholesalers. RESOURCE says the company was attracted to the location because of the work force and logistical proximity along the I-69 corridor.

The company plans to work out of a 333,000 square-foot facility in Anderson. The nearly 25-year-old company says it imports more than five-million tires per year.
