Tipton County Chamber Awarded Grant

The Tipton County Chamber of Commerce is the recipient of a grant from the Tipton County Foundation to help establish a leadership pipeline in the county. The chamber says it is partnering with the Shafer Leadership Academy in Muncie to help chamber members and others in the community develop leadership skills.
The chamber says the grant will provide specific programming throughout throughout the year. As part of the partnership, participants are set to receive free access to Shafer Leadership Academy’s monthly virtual events that focus on “complex and current topics.”
“As I began to analyze the present state of Tipton County and reflect on my considerable history with the Mayor’s office, it became evident that what our community needed was an organization to invest in the established and emerging leaders of this community,” stated Tipton County Chamber Executive Director Kegan Schmicker. “It is our expectation that the various programs will improve the leadership capacity in our communities that will lead to more people expressing interest in the various leadership positions and fixing the leadership drought we presently have.”
Additionally, the chamber says it is planning to host an “All Aboard: Board Leadership in Motion” learning session. The workshop is intended to help people who want to learn more about not-for-profit boards and what serving as a board member entails, as well as how to find an opportunity.
