Thunder Ice Arena Set to Open

Trine University in Angola will Tuesday open the Thunder Ice Arena to the public. The $8.2 million, 700-seat arena will serve as the home of the university’s men’s and women’s hockey programs, which are set to begin this fall.
Plans for the project were announced in April 2016, along with the $13.3 million MTI Center, which is slated to open in January 2018. The 46,200-square-foot arena includes an NCAA-compliant ice rink, men’s and women’s varsity, club and visitor’s lockers, weight and training rooms, and a pro shop, among other amenities.
Trine’s hockey program will compete in the NCAA Division III and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association conference.
