The media company says more than 715,000 readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences from across the globe.
The number five spot goes to The Ironworks Hotel on the city’s northeast side, followed by the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis at number 16 and The Alexander coming in at number 19.
“We are honored that for a second consecutive year, the readers of Condé Nast Traveler have recognized The Alexander as a leading hotel in the Midwest,” said Barry Cockrum, general manager for The Alexander. “This continued recognition is a testament to The Alexander’s artfully elevated guest experience and the gracious hospitality that we have become known for. Particularly in this most unusual of years, we are especially honored to feel this connection to our guests both near and far.”
The top Midwest hotel is the 21c Museum Hotel in Cincinnati.
As the pandemic limited travel this year, the publication says voters made their selections on previous hotel-stays that “brought you comfort, that you still connected with long afterward, that got you through the months without travel. These are the enduring gems that can withstand the test of time and the vicissitudes of circumstances.”
“The results of this year’s survey, conducted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, are a testament to the lasting power of a meaningful travel experience,” said Jesse Ashlock, U.S. Editor of Condé Nast Traveler. “The winners represent the best of the best for our audience and offer plenty of trip-planning inspiration for all the adventures we can’t wait to have next.”
