News Release

HAMMOND, Ind. (July 14, 2014) – Approximately 10,000 softball players, families, friends and fans will descend upon Northwest Indiana for the 2014 National Softball Association Girls Fast Pitch “B” World Series, hosted by South Shore Sports Promotions. The tournament will take place July 21 through July 27, and will utilize fields in Crown Point, Cedar Lake, Hobart, Munster, Ross Township, Highland, Michigan City and La Porte.

“The NSA World Series is one of the South Shore's largest sporting events, filling hotels in four counties and two states,” explained Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority. According to Batistatos, more than 6,000 room nights have been booked in Lake, Porter and La Porte counties in Ind., and Cook County, Ill.

“The entire South Shore benefits from this tournament, as local restaurants, businesses and attractions will see an increase in visitors throughout the week,” stated Batistatos.

On Monday, July 21, teams will kick off the tournament with a series of special events. Teams will be able to compete in contests during the skills competition at the Crown Point Sports Complex before heading to the Crown Point square for a parade and block party. The block party will allow players to participate in activities and enjoy fireworks in celebration of the World Series.
