Thor moving production of some motorhomes to Alabama

Elkhart-based recreational vehicle manufacturer Thor Industries Inc. this week announced a partnership between its subsidiaries Jayco Inc. in Middlebury and Tiffin Motorhomes in Alabama.
As part of the deal, production of Class A diesel motorhomes for Jayco’s Entegra Coach brand will transition to Tiffin’s facilities in Red Bay, Alabama.
Thor said the move will allow Jayco to expand production capacity for the Entegra brand.
“Entegra Coach has earned a strong reputation for luxury, performance, and owner loyalty,” Jayco President Ken Walters said in a news release. “We’re confident that the Tiffin team understands the high standards our Entegra Coach customers expect. Tiffin’s long-standing commitment to quality and integrity makes them the ideal partner for this next chapter of Entegra.”
It was not immediately clear if any Indiana jobs would be negatively affected by moving production of the Class A motorhomes to Alabama. Thor Industries did not respond to a request from Inside INdiana Business for more information.
Jayco will continue to produce the 2026 Entegra Coach diesel Class A motorhomes through the end of this year. Tiffin will begin manufacturing the motorhomes in 2026.
Thor CEO Bob Martin said in the news release that the Class A diesel market continues to become a smaller part of the overall RV marketplace. Therefore, he said it was important to optimize production capabilities across the entire Thor family of companies.
“Given the overall size of the Class A diesel market, integrating Entegra Coach into Tiffin optimizes our production at Tiffin where Class A diesels comprise a greater percentage of its product offering and allows us to leverage Tiffin’s expertise in the segment,” Martin said. “As we look ahead, rapidly evolving requirements for the Class A diesel segment will require focused engineering and craftsmanship that Tiffin can provide for the Entegra brand.”
Thor said all Entegra Coach Class C, Class B, and gas Class A motorhomes will continue to be manufactured by Jayco in Middlebury.
