The longtime executive director of the Japan America Society of Indiana has received the highest award possible from Japan for her efforts in strengthening ties between Indiana and the Asian nation. Theresa Kulczak was presented with "The First Order of the Rising Sun with Gold and Silver Rays" by the Honorable Toshiyuki Iwado, Consul-General of Japan in Chicago, at an event at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis earlier this year. Kulczak arrived at JASI as a founding staff member in 1988 and has served as executive director since 1990.
