The Mind Trust Receives Walton Family Foundation Grant

Indianapolis-based education nonprofit The Mind Trust has received a $4.6 million grant from the Walton Family Foundation. The grant will provide funding for the Relay Graduate School of Education Teaching Residency, School Leader Fellowships and general operations.
“We are grateful for the Walton Family Foundation’s support as we look to ensure that every student in Indianapolis, no exceptions, has access to a great school,” said Brandon Brown, CEO of The Mind Trust. “Indianapolis’ education system has made remarkable progress over the past several years. This generous grant helps support the work of educators across our city as they champion transformational change.”
The Relay Teaching Residency opens its Indianapolis campus in the fall, which the nonprofit says will be one of the most diverse educator residency programs in the U.S. The two-year residency formal highlights practical experience, which allows for time to learn from other teachers in classrooms. The nonprofit’s School Leader Fellowships have helped the launch of 29 charter schools and Innovation Network Schools since 2006.
