Terre Haute Convention Center Moves Forward

Commissioners have approved a resolution that would help fund the much-anticipated Terre Haute convention center  project. Our partners at WTHI-TV report the Capital Improvement Board, city, county and the Convention and Visitors Bureau have agreed that the food and beverage tax will continue to be a source of funding.

Last month, the project was estimated to cost $32.5 million, up from the original $25 million estimate.

The Vigo County Council had begun considering a proposal to implement a food and beverage tax to help fund a new convention center in Terre Haute last year.

Officials expect to break ground in late May or early June.
