Terre Haute, Ind. — The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce announced today that Terre Haute native David Haynes has been selected by the Board of Directors to serve as President. He will assume the role on June 16.
“This is an exciting day for the Chamber,” stated Jeanette Winchester, Chair of the Board. “Over the course of the past three months, we have considered a number of candidates, both local and non-local. Our members asked us for someone with a commitment to the community and we've been fortunate to find that person. Not only is he local, but he is also a great fit for this position.”
Haynes' career spans more than 30 years, all of which have been spent in the Wabash Valley. In addition to private practice, he was a founding partner of Brames, McCormick, Bopp, Haynes & Abel law firm and also served as Director of Planned Giving for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Most recently, Haynes has served as an attorney for Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin.
He is a 1973 graduate of Indiana State University and a 1976 graduate of Loyola of New Orleans School of Law.
“Having spent our lives in Terre Haute, my wife Nancy and I are prepared to represent Terre Haute and its business community and look forward to the opportunity,” stated Haynes. “When applying for this position, I stated that 'I am one of us' and believe that to be the foundation for a successful tenure as president of our Chamber.”
“We raised our four sons through the Vigo County School system and I've had the pleasure of having coached and mentored them, their friends and teammates over the years and feel that provides a connection with the future leaders of our community,” Haynes went on to say. “It makes me proud to see a number of these individuals that I have come to know staying here and am looking forward to helping them grow and prosper in my new role.”
Haynes has been involved with United Way of the Wabash Valley, Leadership Wabash Valley and Terre Haute First Congregational Church. He and Nancy reside in Terre Haute, have four sons and two grandchildren.
