Terre Haute Casino Developer Appeals Commission Ruling
Terre Haute-based Lucy Luck Gaming has appealed a decision from the Indiana Gaming Commission regarding the planned $175 million casino in the Vigo County city. The commission in June voted not to renew the gaming license for Lucy Luck to operate the casino.
The commissioners denied the renewal request, citing Lucy Luck had not hired an executive team to run the casino and also did not have full financing secured for the casino’s operations. At the time of the ruling, Lucy Luck Chairman Greg Gibson said he wasn’t sure if the company would reapply for the license.
Last month, the commission reopened applications for the gaming license, the deadline for which is September 22. Plans for the casino have been years in the making, with Gibson hoping to open the facility, which would be a Hard Rock casino, in 2022.
