Teenager Leading Hope Main Street Program
The town of Hope’s Indiana Main Street program efforts will be guided by a college student. Brittany Young, who attends Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus, has been chosen for the role that focuses on historic preservation and beautification of the town square in the Bartholomew County community.
The town’s website says the group’s efforts involve "promoting local businesses while attracting new businesses, creating new housing opportunities and becoming a destination for tourism."
The 19-year-old is a Hauser High School graduate and served last year as president of the Indiana FFA. Main Street of HOPE Board of Directors President Greg Sweet says Young has "garnered many leadership skills, including her outstanding public speaking ability. Ms. Young will be an excellent representative for Main Street of HOPE and the community."
Smith spent 10 years as a member of Bartholomew County 4-H and the organization says she plans to attend Purdue University and major in Agricultural Education.
