A recently-launched sports tech accelerator has its first leader. Jordan Fliegel has been named managing director of Techstars Sports Accelerator Powered by Indy. He has experience running venture-backed sports tech startups: CoachUp.com, Techstars Class 19, Techstars Boston 2012 and Draft.com, Techstars Class 5, Techstars Boston 2010 (previous brand was StarStreet.com).

"I’m passionate about sports and about helping founders, so this opportunity really hit home for me," said Fliegel. "One of the biggest things I’ve learned through my own startup experiences is that no one—and no company—succeeds alone. I believe that we will build the best sports accelerator in the world. The sports and venture communities in Indianapolis have rallied together to make this program a reality, and I’m thrilled to be joining them."

The accelerator was first announced in August by a group of founding partners, including the Indiana Sports Corp., the Indianapolis-based NCAA and Pacers Sports & Entertainment. It will select 10 companies from throughout the world to participate in three-month program designed to push the development of technology to benefit the sports sector.

High Alpha Managing Partner Scott Dorsey and Indiana Sports Corp. President Ryan Vaughn last year appeared on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick to talk about the Techstars Sports Tech Accelerator Powered by Indy.
