Indianapolis, Ind. – Formstack, a software-as-a-service form building company, announced today that its form-building application has earned Section 508 certification. Internet users with visual or hearing impairments can now complete web forms created through the Formstack application. The company is now the first third-party online form builder that is 508 compliant and can produce a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT).
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires federal agencies to provide equal accessibility to electronic and information technology for people with disabilities. 508 compliance is a requirement for all federal-funded institutions, including public higher education, public K-12 education, nonprofit organizations and government offices. In addition, many large companies require 508 compliant forms for internal data capture.

When Formstack customers build online forms, they will be prompted to include certain settings that comply with accessibility regulations. Additionally, the form builder will warn users if they attempt to include features that are not supported by assistive technology.
From contact forms to event registration forms, more institutions can now easily capture data from any customer using Formstack. Universities and K-12 schools can use Formstack to process online admission applications for any prospective student, capture email newsletter signups, and collect dues and other payments. Nonprofits can process donations and volunteer registrations, while government offices can leverage Formstack's data capture for a variety of administrative needs.
