The schools say the cooperative effort will allow students to earn two bachelor’s degrees in four years at a similar cost to earning a single four-year degree.
The program involves a three-year nursing program at Taylor University, followed by a 14-month concentrated nursing training program at IWU. The schools say students will gain experience in a variety of allied health professions and "build a scientific foundation" in areas including biology, chemistry and kinesiology. It will also provide opportunities to travel to Uganda or Ecuador.
IWU School of Nursing Vice President for Academic Affairs Barbara Ihrke says the program will "greatly benefit students from across the nation and potentially students from across the world." Taylor Provost Jeff Moshier agrees, saying the partnership is "very much in alignment with the heart of our students’ desire to bring restoration and wholeness to those who need it."
