The Indiana Department of Revenue says the initiative, which ended two weeks ago, collected more than $100 million, surpassing the $90 million goal.
The first $84 million is marked for the Indiana Economic Corp.-led Indiana Regional Cities Initiative and the next $6 million will go toward the Indiana Department of Transportation’s portion of the Hoosier State Passenger Rail operations funding.
Department of Revenue Commissioner Andrew Kossack says "we’re thrilled so many taxpayers chose to take advantage of this opportunity to catch up on past-due taxes and move forward in good standing with the department. By meeting our goal, Indiana will be able to fund important economic programs across the state that will benefit Hoosiers for years to come."
Additionally, the department says taxpayers have agreed to pay $22.3 million through payment plans, which will be added to the total as payments are processed.
The state says June 15 is the deadline for tax amnesty payments to be satisfied.
