Indianapolis-based Synapse Sitters’ Founder Marie Maher has been selected as a 2018 Best Buddies Indiana Champion. She is also a finalist for Indiana Champion of the Year.

Maher is currently raising funds online to support Best Buddies and raising awareness about the organization’s mission. Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

She is the parent of a young son with autism. Maher started Synapse Sitters to connect specialized sitters with families that have children on the Autism spectrum and those who have Down syndrome, ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy or other behavioral and emotional needs.

The Best Buddies Indiana Champion of the Year will be announced at a Gala on November 10 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
