Chuck Surack says Mynett Music will retain its name and location and operate as part of the Sweetwater family of companies.
Mynett Music was founded in downtown Fort Wayne in 1933. It offers instrument sales, rentals and repairs as well as music lessons. Surack calls the company "a true Fort Wayne institution," saying he has been a "devoted customer for decades."
Sweetwater says the acquisition will retain seven jobs and "guarantee the future" of one of a small number of Fort Wayne music stores that sell and repair orchestra and band instruments. Surack says the companies are complementary, since their offerings do not overlap.
Mynett was founded by Milt Mynett. His son Chuck became owner in 1980.
