The results of a survey commissioned by Radius Indiana reveal southern Indiana employers expect to boost workforce pay over the next 12 months, while three-quarters of respondents also intend to grow staff. The 2022 Radius Indiana Wages and Benefits Survey provides up-to-date labor market information in the eight-county region and how it compares to the state of Indiana and the U.S.
Radius Indiana says 92 firms participated in the survey, and shared compensation data for more than 13,000 worker roles. The economic development organization says to protect privacy, it did not receive employee names or other personal information.
Among the survey findings, jobs in the technology sector saw average wages increase 19.4% from 2018 to 2022.
Workers in the production and logistics sectors saw a 4.9% wage increase.
“This data provided by employers in the region reveals that wage growth is diverging among different sectors of the economy, offering clues to employers and employees about future opportunities to maximize their resources,” said Jeff Quyle, president and CEO of Radius Indiana. “We are grateful for the participation we received for this survey; together we created a great tool to help our local businesses grow and learn.”
Quyle says the survey included 63 job classifications, ranging from customer service and receptionists to production workers and logistics.
The survey data also shows 30% now have some employees who split their schedule between the workplace and remote locations and 19% have some employees who work remotely full time. The report indicates 37% of employers allowed remote work during the pandemic but have since returned to working in the office.
“These results will be a vital tool as we launch a new business retention and expansion program in Martin County aimed at supporting our local businesses. This is one tool to help build individual connections that strengthen relationships and provide assistance our local companies may need,” said Martin County Alliance Executive Director Jessica Potts.
Whorton Marketing and Research conducted the survey in August and September 2022.
