Supreme Court Names Officer

The Indiana Supreme Court has selected Mary Willis to serve as its first chief administrative officer. Willis, who has served as a Henry Circuit Court judge since 2003, will begin her new role next month.
The Supreme Court says it will appoint a temporary judge to fill Willis’ role in Henry County when she begins her new position. The court’s interim CAO, Division of State Court Administration Executive Director Lilia Judson, will retire in September after working with Willis on her transition to her new role.
"Mary is a tremendous leader with legal and administrative skills who will be a great asset to the Supreme Court," said Chief Justice Loretta Rush.
The new position is part of an internal restructuring plan announced in February. The court says the goal of the plan is to "enhance communication, clarify staff responsibilities, document institutional knowledge, plan for personnel succession, and continue to move the judiciary forward."
