Summer Youth Programs Score $2.8M in Grants

Summer Youth Programs Score $2.8M in Grants The Indianapolis Foundation is an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation.

The Indianapolis Foundation says more than $2.8 million in grants will be awarded to 165 nonprofits throughout Marion County. The funding, awarded through the Summer Youth Program Fund, will support more than 200 summertime programs this year.

The Summer Youth Program Fund is a collaborative of 10 local and national partners and was founded by the Indianapolis Foundation and Lilly Endowment Inc. The foundation says the summer programs and activities receiving funding focus on summer youth employment, STEAM education, athletics and skills training, among others.

Some of the recipients include:

  • East Tenth United Methodist Children and Youth Center Inc. – $33,000 for its Summer Days for Youth 2018
  • D.R.E.A.M. Alive Inc. – $23,700 for its Bridge Internship Program
  • La Plaza – $8,000 for its Leadership Institute for Latino Youth and $42,000 for its Summer Discovery program
  • Felege Hiywot Center Inc. – $35,000 for its Develop Youth STEAM Educators Through Summer and Year-long Farm Work program
  • TRUST CORP/Indianapolis Housing Agency – $33,000 for its PRIDE Summer Program

The funding partners for the Summer Youth Program Fund in 2018 include Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation Inc., Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development, Indiana University Health, Kroger Central Division, Lilly Endowment Inc., Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, The Clowes Fund Inc., The Indianapolis Foundation, and The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund.
