North American Midway Entertainment, based in the Randolph County town of Farmland, will bring Fairgrounds Fun Park to the Indiana State Fairgrounds at the end of July.
Scheduled to take place from July 31 to September 7, the carnival will feature carnival rides, games, midway food from more than 40 vendors and outdoor entertainment, similar to the popular midway at the State Fair.
“We are excited to bring much needed fun and excitement to Indiana for the summer,” Danny Huston, chief executive officer of NAME, said in a news release. “We are uniquely positioned as an Indiana company to provide this experience for Hoosiers and we are so excited to bring back the sounds, smells and sights of summer during this challenging year.”
NAME says the fair will incorporate COVID-19 procedures for guests and staff, including a full-time, on-site COVID-19 Customer and Employee Safety Director. Other precautions being taken will include employee hand washing and equipment disinfecting, various hand sanitizing stations throughout the park, contactless payment options, plexiglass shields to protect food, and additional sanitizing wipe downs of rides and games.
“We are mindful of the current pandemic and will adhere to state and local guidelines and practices to ensure the safety of all guests, staff, and vendors,” said Huston.
The Indiana State Fair Commission announced the cancellation of the State Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this month. The fairgrounds will still host a modified 4-H Livestock Show and additional activities in August.
