SugarCreek to Add 100 Jobs in Wayne County

Ohio-based SugarCreek Packing Co. has announced plans to add 100 jobs at its Cambridge City production facility. The Palladium-Item reports the food manufacturer is investing more than $7 million in new equipment for the facility, which began production in 2015.

SugarCreek currently employs more than 400 at the Wayne County plant and is looking to fill the new positions by June 2019. The Wayne County Council this week unanimously approved a 10-year tax abatement for the investment in the new equipment.

At the council meeting, according to the publication, SugarCreek Chief Financial Officer Thomas Bollinger said the plant produced 36 million pounds of finished products in 2017 and expects to produce 54 million pounds this year.

"We are making good progress at that facility," Bollinger said. "We feel, especially last year, we really advanced the ball, and we feel this year we’re at that turning point where we’re going to see activity pick up at a greater pace."

Bollinger said the investment will help increase capacity and reduce bottlenecks in current production processes. You can read more from the Palladium-Item by clicking here.
