Subaru of Indiana Announces Executive Changes

Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. in Lafayette has announced several executive changes. Among the moves, the automaker has named Fumiaki Hayata chairman and chief executive officer.

Hayata new role will be in addition to his current roles as chief general manager of overseas sales & marketing for Subaru Corp. From March 1989 through April 1997, he served on SIA’s management team in the purchasing department.

Ryota Fukumizu has been appointed as the company’s president and chief operating officer. Fukumizu previously served on SIA’s senior management team in the manufacturing engineering department.

Subaru has named Koji Morikawa as chief financial officer, and he will also serve concurrently as general manager of North American business planning. SIA says Morikawa will serve in his new role from Subaru headquarters in Tokyo. Morikawa formerly served as SIA’s vice president – corporate planning & chief financial officer.

SIA says Tatsuya Ota has been appointed as chief quality officer. Ota most recently served as executive vice president over the manufacturing and manufacturing engineering departments. In his new role, he will continue his role over the manufacturing and manufacturing engineering departments and will also lead the quality department and SIA’s overall quality improvement initiatives.

Scott Brand has been promoted to executive vice president and vice president of human resources & corporate social responsibility. SIA says Brand will be responsible for officer-level oversight of SIA’s administrative functions in information systems, human resources, and legal & compliance, among others.

Subaru has appointed Doug Meyer as vice president of legal & compliance. SIA says it has approved a new compliance section within its legal department that will be responsible for assessing compliance and/or operational risks and developing risk management strategies.
