Study Recommends Mishawaka Sports Facility

A study commissioned by Visit South Bend Mishawaka recommends construction of a nearly $33 million indoor sports facility in Mishawaka. The study, conducted by Chicago-based Hunden Strategic Partners, says the facility could generate more than $530 million in economic impact over 20 years.
The study recommends a nearly 118,000 square-foot facility that could seat approximately 2,000 spectators. It would include a six-lane, 200-meter track and enough space for eight basketball courts or 16 volleyball courts.
"A new indoor multi-court, multi-use sports facility would serve a local audience well and tap into an already strong regional demand in youth sports, along with providing a space for volleyball, pickleball, wrestling, cheer camps, indoor track and field and other flat floor events," the study says. "Given the quality and capacity of a new South Bend/Mishawaka indoor facility, opening the door to creating major new regional tournaments should be highly achievable."
The study estimates the facility would operate at a deficit for the first ten years of operation. You can view the full study by clicking here.
