Study: Indy Area ‘Conducive’ for Women Entrepreneurs

The website analyzed data on 50 of the largest metropolitan regions to measure the gender gap when it comes to company ownership.
It says for women who want to start a business, some parts of the U.S. are more conducive to their success than others.
The central Indiana metropolitan statistical area came in at No. 22, while Minneapolis-St. Paul received top billing.
Smart Asset says 17.9% of all businesses in the Indianapolis region are owned or started by women, which is below the national figure of about 21% However when it comes to companies with more than 500 employees, the number drops to 2.68% in Indiana.
Another figure shows 79.9% of the women-owned businesses in the area are still active one year after opening.
