Study Details Crawfordsville College Swimming Event Impact

An analysis shows the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s and Men’s Swim and Dive Championships, which runs through Saturday in Crawfordsville, has created a nearly $1 million economic impact over the last five years. The research from the Center for Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at Wabash College estimates the figure would increase slightly during the next five years.

The idea for the study, the college says, came from Crawfordsville High School Athletic Director Bryce Barton, who was facing some $45,000 and $50,000 in facility improvements if the school’s Crawfordsville Aquatics Center continued to host the event. The economic impact study was conducted by a team of eight students representing multiple majors.
