Annex Student Living says construction on the 408-bed development could begin in the fall and be complete in a year.
Chief executive Kyle Bach says Annex 41 would serve as a catalyst for the city’s downtown. "In 2015, we saw an opportunity to support the University’s aggressive plans for enrollment growth. We began scouting locations that would offer Terre Haute college students an opportunity to live in a new yet affordable community just steps from campus."
The company has submitted plans to the city and its economic development commission. It says the project would involve around 100 construction jobs and at least five full-time positions would be created when work is complete.
Annex Student Living has properties throughout the state, including in New Albany, Richmond, South Bend, Vincennes and Indianapolis, as well as a presence in Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky.
