Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report documents filed with the bankruptcy court did not state a reason for the postponement.
The auction for the 19 stores will now take place July 6. An auction for the remaining assets of Strack’s Illinois-based parent company Central Grocers Inc., including its distribution and warehouse facility in Illinois, was still scheduled to take place Thursday, according to the publication.
Last month, Illinois-based Jewel-Osco offered to acquire the remaining stores for $100 million. The Times reports another buyer could outbid Jewel in the auction, and interested buyers had until Monday to make an offer.
