The Humane Society of Indianapolis has named Steven Stolen (pictured) chief executive officer. His official start date is June 1. Current CEO John Aleshire announced last September that he would retire from the Humane Society of Indianapolis after leading the organization for eight years.

Stolen has held high-profile positions at Butler University, Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Rocketship Education and most recently, the Indy Chamber. He has also worked as an independent consultant for the Indianapolis Opera and The Julian Center. Stolen is the host of the popular WFYI program Stolen Moments.

Aleshire will work with Stolen over the course of the next month in an ex-officio capacity to help with this organizational transition. Aleshire’s official last day with the organization is June 30.

The IndyHumane staff, board of directors and volunteers look forward to welcoming Stolen and beginning to work with him in the coming weeks.
