Steel Technologies LLC says the investment could also create up to 21 jobs over the next two years.
The operation in Montgomery County currently employs 67 and construction is already underway. Steel Technologies has five locations in the state and Chief Executive Officer Mike Carroll says "the added capabilities and increased capacity allows us to expand the services we bring to our growing customer base. As a leader in advanced manufacturing, Indiana continues to offer Steel Technologies both a favorable business climate and a skilled workforce that supports our five facilities throughout the state."
Plans call for new space that would increase the Crawfordsville footprint by around one-third to nearly 315,000 square-feet. In all the company employs some 1,850 workers throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The expansion is expected be fully-operational next year. Steel Technologies’ other Indiana facilities are in Greensburg, Mishawaka and Portage.
The company has been offered up to $100,000 in tax credits contingent upon meeting hiring plans and the city is considering additional incentives.
