Steel Dynamics appoints president, COO

Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. (Nasdaq: STLD) has appointed Barry Schneider to the newly created position of president and Chief Operating Officer. He currently serves as senior vice president of the Flat Roll Steel Group and will continue to report to company chairman and CEO Mark Millett.

Schneider, who has been with the company for 28 years, was named VP in March 2016. The company says Schneider will continue to oversee the flat roll steel operations, and will also assume responsibility of the company’s long products steel group, steel fabrication platform, and metals recycling platform.

His new role is effective March 1.
