State Talent Goes High in MLB Draft

A catcher from the Indiana University Hoosiers was taken fourth overall by the Chicago Cubs. The Colorado Rockies selected a pitcher from the University of Evansville. Catcher Kyle Schwarber hit .358 with 14 homes runs and 48 runs batted in for the Hoosiers this past season. The Ohio-native was the Big Ten Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Pitcher Kyle Freeland was 10-and-2 for the Aces this season. The Denver, Colorado native posted an earned run average of 1.90 and 128 strikeouts.
Terre Haute native A.J. Reed was taken with the first pick in the second round by Houston. The pitcher/first baseman has been a standout at the University of Kentucky.
