The selection will lead the state's efforts to promote poetry through public and educational programming and serve a two-year term.
Indiana's Poet Laureate makes formal presentations at educational events and facilities and advises the Indiana Arts Commission on promoting poetry in the state.
The commission is accepting nominations through Tuesday, September 1. The organization says nominations should include a cover letter and resume detailing qualifications and accomplishments.
The current Indiana State Poet Laureate is IPFW professor George Kalamaras. His term runs through the end of the year.
