State Names ‘Four Star’ Schools

The list includes 41 of what the department says are the "very best schools in Indiana." Only one high school is on the list, Trinity Lutheran High School in Seymour.
Honorees meet criteria including:
- an "A" on the state’s A-F accountability system
- excellent ISTEP pass rates
- overall high graduation rate (if applicable)
- show success in closing achievement gaps
Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick says "receiving designation as a Four Star School signifies a pursuit of academic excellence among both the students and the administration. I am honored to recognize these Four Star Schools and their leadership for their hard work and dedication to preparing their students for a bright and prosperous future."
The program was launched in 1988. The 2015-2016 winners are:

- Saint Simon The Apostle School in Indianapolis
- Our Lady Of Perpetual Help School in New Albany
- Brown Elementary School in Brownsburg

- Smoky Row Elementary School in Carmel
- West Clay Elementary School in Carmel
- Mohawk Trails Elementary School in Carmel
- Staunton Elementary School in Brazil
- Jackson Township Elementary School in Brazil
- Royerton Elementary School in Muncie
- Saint Wendel School in Wadesville
- St Philip School in Mount Vernon
- Resurrection Catholic School in Evansville
- Holy Trinity Catholic School in Jasper
- St. Pius X Catholic School in Granger
