Governor Mike Pence, Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88) and Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-16) have made appointments to the State Board of Education. The General Assembly this year approved reorganizing the board to include eight appointments from the governor and two from legislative leaders. Governor Pence's appointments and re-appointments include:

NIPSCO Manager of Federal Governmental Relations and Community Relations Eddie Melton

Project Lead The Way Inc. Chief Executive Officer Vince Bertram

M.S.D. of Warren Township Assistant Superintendent Lee Ann Kwiatowski

Former teacher, administrator and university executive David Freitas

Riverview Middle School teacher Cari Whicker

River Birch Elementary School teacher Sarah O'Brien

CBRE Inc. First Vice President Gordon Hendry

Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. teacher BJ Watts

Bosma appointed 2010 Indiana Teacher of the Year Byron Ernest. Long has appointed long-time Allen County educator Steve Yager.

The board will also include Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz.

The next board meeting is set for Wednesday, June 3 in West Lafayette.
